"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."
- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

I don't want that to happen to this game. =/ The game is just lacking some Style, so to say. Sure, you have the powers in it, but there is an essential peice in a game that makes a person play it...

Why do people play Urban Terror so much, even when the guns are so inaccurate, and there really isn't a point to it?

Why do people still play the Original Super Mario?

Why do people dream about Doom 3 or Half Life 2 being released?

Because of style. =) Batmite, you have the concept of the modification down pact; however, you lack the flowing style that is needed to connect everything together. Imagine if you must...

Artistic work with Charcoal, essentially you only have two colors, white and black. The two contrast each other greatly, and often times do not find a harmony within each other. Yet, with the use of a blending tool, you can create dynamic gradiations between the two, creating a peice of art.

Regretfully, SoH is the equivilant to a Charcoal peice that has yet to be blended together to accent all the points that are great about it. You have Normal Q3 gameplay, contrasting with the unique powers within. The contrast is too great, and causes a turn off to players that fall upon it. Only with alterations to the feel of the game, by blending elements together, can this game become what you want it to Batmite.

The only thing SHA lacks is maps. Thats the reason why people play things like Urban Terror.

Sha lacks more than maps...It lacks balance. Without balance a game isn't fun. It is not fun to be turned into Ice repeatedly, and have someone either run you through with a light saber, or eye beams. It is not fun for someone to run around with Replusion Field, Super Blast, proximity mines, and ice blast....when you get pinned against a wall. Whenever a game permits easy exploitation of unbalanced attacks, it doesn't get played. After the first few matches, the lack of balance in the attacks cause people to move away from it. As harsh as that sounds, its true. The problem with Sha rests not just in the lack of Maps, but within the lack of Balance.

Another problem is...It replies primarily on Quake 3 game play to be done. Very rarely have I witnessed a Super hero such as superman pull out a machine gun. There lies another problem... Powers are not necessarily relied on, but used only in certain situations.

I could go on...but I just wanted to say the only thing missing is not maps.

The only people trying to make maps and models are a couple of amateurs and one of them is broke and needs a new video card and monitor! I put in 10 minutes of work and it crashes and its all gone. Since I'm more of the amateur than the other, my work is probably incorrect. I started another map with only maybe 10% completed and it takes hours upon hours to compile it when I need to go in it and look it over. It takes up way to omuch time!

I also tried recruiting/begging people but any form of recruitment/begging goes ignored.
[ December 20, 2003: Message edited by: nineinchnerd ]

They are a great improvement though.

As for someone controlling the game with certain powers, that why there are counter powers. I have yet to see someone actually dominate the game.

There is balance if you know how to use all the powers available well. There are at least 2 counters to everything. Use any combo you want and I'll be able to counter it and force you to change.

I think another of the reasons why SHA is in the state that it became (other than maps) is because I was the only team member. My ability to promote and talk to people is very limited; most mods have a lot of people behind them.
[ December 21, 2003: Message edited by: Batmite ]
